We Need Your Help – Building a Community Farm
We are building a community farm for the future of East Sussex… that produces great organic veg, and is a place for the community to get out into nature, get their hands dirty and learn how to grow food on this scale. Whilst also improving the soil and the environment around us.
But we need your help! If you have been following our progress you know that we uprooted and moved to a field in November 2019.
Since then whilst trying to build a farm we have encountered:
– The wettest months and floods on record in more than 20 years
– FOUR named storms with 75 mph winds that destroyed alot of our initial infrastructure built
– A global pandemic!!
It hasn’t been the easiest start to an already difficult adventure, however it hasn’t squashed our spirits or ambition.. It is more important than ever to make this a huge success. The last month has highlighted just how fragile the food system is in the UK and local food systems couldn’t be more important.
We have also seen the true power of communitites in these hard times.. People helping eachother with grocery deliveries to the vulnerable, great donations to food banks, and businesses pivotting to truly help people when they need it. A strong community couldn’t be more important.
That is exactly what we are fighting for… Our missions are to:
1.) Produce great local food for local households and families.
2.) Create a community hub that allows people to get outside and learn where food comes from.
3.) Farm in a sustainable way that gives back to nature more than it takes.
